CABB 250
Legal Aspects of Business Sales in California
Saturday, September 28, 2019
8:00 am - 5:00 pm

This 8-hour course is designed for California business brokers at all experience levels. The purpose of this course is to examine a variety of aspects of small business transactions from a legal perspective and gain a better understanding of the way attorneys view transactions. By having a better understanding of the legal aspects and attorney viewpoints, brokers will be in a position to (a) foresee potential issues before they arise, (b) have more informed conversations with attorneys which may help them save transactions from "death by lawyer", (c) be able to better represent their clients by identifying and addressing issues that may create unwanted legal liability, (d) preserve and protect their broker fees, and (e) avoid litigation and stay out of court.

Learning Objectives: Attendees will:

  • learn to identify legal issues that arise when brokering business transactions;
  • better understand legal compliance issues;
  • improve their ability to communicate and work effectively with buyers' and sellers' attorneys;
  • learn how to preserve and protect their fees; and
  • learn how to avoid litigation.
